What the treatment usually involves

Laminate veneers are thin ceramic shells bonded to the front of selected teeth. In suitable cases the dentist may be able to keep preparation minimal, but this depends on tooth position, enamel, bite and the result being planned.

Important considerations

• “Minimal preparation” does not mean preparation-free in every case.
• They may not suit severe crowding, heavy grinding or weakened teeth.
• The dentist must assess enamel, gums and bite before recommending treatment.
